FEB 21 - FUGARE SHOW & PARIS HIGHLIGHTS

Groeten vrienden (Dutch for "Greetings friends"),

 Last night we returned from a trip to the Fugare Int'l Racing Pigeon Xpo in Belgium and a week in Paris.

 Here are some highlights:

  • We talked with well-known pigeon veterinarian, Dr. De Weerd. He gave us a lot of info about vaccines, pigeon diseases & how to best control them in a one loft environment.
  • Longhorn Classic is now using BENZING clocking! We met with Benzing Director, Thomas Zimmerman, and Ed Minvielle of Siegel Pigeons to make the switch (see video below). Looking forward to using the system's great features.
  • Met Jurgen of Pijong (automatic feeders). Cool product!
  • The Fugare show is larger than any we have in the USA, with over 100 vendor booths & what looked like a couple thousand attendees. Highly recommend going if you can - its a fun and informative experience.
  • After Belgium, we spent a week in Paris. We arrived home last night & are ready to get back to work!
  • Hope your breeders are cranking out future winners!

Watched "Million Dollar Pigeons" on British Airways.

Highlights include interviews with Mike Ganus, Dr. De Weerd & Jim Ward. Plus they follow along with a season of the South African Million Dollar Pigeon Race & Pattaya Int'l Pigeon Race.

Well done & interesting!

Loft Modifications Started @ Longhorn Classic

We've started the loft modifications. See the 15" strip opening under the landing board in front of the loft. Also, see one of the five openings being added on the backside, one in each section. We will add barn doors on the back to be able to regulate the air flow from the back and block rain and wind when necessary.

JAN 6 LONGHORN CLASSIC UPDATE - RESERVE PERCHES

Hello breeder friends!

 

(If you tried to reserve perches on our website recently, the page was not working - but its fixed).

 

 

  1. We hope breeding is going well for those who've started. Prayers to all who are experiencing extreme weather. We've seen a lot of it on the news & it looks challenging.
  2. Early this week we shipped out the very last birds, so the loft is 100% EMPTY. We are officially & literally - EMPTY NESTERS. However, it's like when children move out, "the house" is now very quiet & a bit lonely. So we are eagerly looking forward to the 2023 season!
  3. We will start making changes to the loft soon - to include adding openings with sliding doors on the back side, for increased but controlled air flow. We are also opening a strip in the front, below the landing board. Watch for video updates.
  4. We are looking to book our tickets to Belgium to attend the 2023 Fugare Pigeon Expo. It's a little tricky because we are caregivers for Nora's mother, but we're working to make it happen.
  5. We just started working on getting 2023 perch reservations. Like last year, we will only accept 1,500 birds. Please consider joining our race.
