Well gang big progress yesterday
I got the new dongle for the TarRIS One Loft Derby system and the program started right up!!
Next step is to scan the 10 chips I have for testing
More progress on the Live Video streaming, I took the laptop outside to the loft and it worked with the wireless modem in the house. I need to work on the settings, the picture was distorted. Ustream has released a new free program called Ustream Producer to download and run on your computer to control your video feed. It lets you add pictures and video clips plus is supposed to allow a screencast but I could not get that feature to work??
It was a beautiful day yesterday, I started banding babies
Life is good!
Well if you want complicated get involved in videos
The EasyCap cord I bought to broadcast live on the Internet came with an old version movie making software called "Ulead Video Studio 10." It is just too cool. You can upgrade to the latest version for $60. At first it is a little freightening, but there are a ton of free video tutorials on the Internet to get you started. I still do not understand all the Video and Audio file types and probably never will. Once you get the thing set to where it works with your camcorder you are off and running.
Microsoft WindowsXP and above comes with Windows Movie Maker for free. You will find it adequate but not much more. Your Camcorder will probably have a movie editor bundled with it too. I got HandyCam with my Sony camcorder, again it is adequate to make simple movies.
Babies are hatching all over the place! Time to start exercising the Old Birds, hawks are just thick this year. I had 3 different attacks yesterday while I was standing on my deck in front of the loft.
Cheers,
Terry
I bought the Easy Cap adaptor cord on eBay for $20 including shipping
I will test things outside as soon as the weather improves a little
My dream is to broadcast race bird arrivals live on the computer
The big trick is a good upload speed on your Internet connections to have a good quality video
The speed here is 1500kbps upload and 4500kbps download. Ustream says you only need around 300 to 500 kbps to upload?
My plan is to walk around outside shooting video with my laptop in a shoulder bag, as long as I can maintain my wireless Internet connection to my router
I picked up the TauRIS one loft clocking system from the Postoffice and will try it out today. It will handle upto 9,999 birds! We hope to write a version of Wincom for it.
I have ordered the TauRIS One-Loft Derby hardware. We hope to have a wincom version for the TauRIS clocking system in the next several weeks.
I am also working on Live Video for the One-Loft races next summer. I have bought a Sony Camcorder and waiting for delivery. There is a Live Streaming web server that is free called UStream.tv. I will keep you up to date as I progress.
