THANKS GUYS AND GOOD LUCK
WE TOSSED THE BIRDS ON FRIDAY MORNING INTO A HEADWIND. THEY WERE A LITTLE SLOW AS EXPECTED.
AFTER THE 60 MI. TOSS, WE HAVE GIVEN THE BIRDS A COUPLE SHORTER TOSSES, BUT WE HAVE HAD RAIN, ETC IN THE AREA
THE LAST COUPLE DAYS, SO I WILL NOT TRAIN THE BIRDS WHEN RAIN IS IN THE AREA. WE LOST 100 BIRDS DOING THAT, JUST NOT FAIR TO THE BIRDS.
WE PLAN TO HAVE THE ACTIVATION 100 MI. TOSS NEXT WEEK , PROBABLY TUESDAY, BUT WAITING ON THE WEATHER TO SEE
HOW THAT GOES. , SO STAY TUNED, WE WILL HAVE LIVE RESULTS ON THE 100.
AFTER THE ACTIVATION TOSS 80.00 FINAL PERCH FEE AND THE ENTRY FEE OF 125.00 WILL BE DUE.
TAKE CARE AND STAY TUNED.
last sunday we took the birds out to the 40 mi. station again. the weather man said 20% chance of scattered rain showers.
we did not encounter any rain on the way up and everything looked good, so we realeased the birds and they headed home like always.
about 3/4 of the way home, we encountered a rain shower ( pretty heavy) that had sprung up from the s.w. ( behind them).
well that 20% turned into almost 100 % most of the day. rain showers off and on all day!
Had we known any rain was coming, we would not have tossed the birds but you know about hindsight.
we have dropped several birds but remain hopefull more will return.
another flyer had the same problem the same day as he thought very little chance of rain as predicted by the weatherman.
we apoligize for the mistake , believe me , i sure didn't want this to happen.
the birds that are home are in top shape and intellengent birds to acomplish what they did. you all should be proud of them.
we will let them rest for a few days and return to training.
guys we did a 7 mi. toss today and the birds did fine, but after looking at the clock, i have several unknown birds on the clocking list. i don't know what happen between yesterday and today but i will go to the loft and catch each bird and scan them
and get everything corrected.
i have the results saved on a file but i'm not going to post it here until i do another toss with everything corrected.
we did a 5 mi. toss today and found some mistakes so we have been talking with terry gilmore of wincompanion.
we will do another toss tomorrow and hopefully the mistakes have been corrected, just bear with us. if you see one, let me know
a lot of the birds showed unassigned breeder but we will get those corrected.
there is one bird that has a hurt wing so has been put aside and one cvr 2387 lost his chip, but we have put another one on him today.
keep tuned and let us know if you have any problem that you see.
all birds have been loaded into crates and tossed short as it has been exceptally cool here the last few days.
they were released a crate or two at a time. i do this to get them used to being crated as they do get frantic the first few
times they are crated. they are crated at random. we did have that group the first day that took off the wrong direction, but
all others did fine.
yesterday while out exercising a hawk hit one bird and killed it, the owner was notified. so today they stayed in, and will try to capture the cullprit. the only good thing that came from the hawk is the birds took off routing and dissappeared for a while.
we will continue to crate the birds and toss them short for a while.
if you want to see the current inventory, send me your name or email address and i will email it to you.
i have had a request to put it here, but it cannot be copied/paste here, i will have to email it to you.
today was a nice cool day so i decided to load up a couple crates of the birds and take them a short ways from the loft.
BAD IDEA. i released them and they circled a couple time, then headed straight n.e. ( the loft ios to the south).
and went completely out of sight, so tonight we will see how many are lost . can't figure it out but it must be a bad day for trainng as a friend of mine who is one of the top pigeon flyers in okla, tossed his birds 15 miles, and after one hour had NO
PIGEONS HOME . , i hope he gets them back, but he said his did the same thing, headed n.e and his loft was north west.
so stay tuned and we will see the outcome.
