RIVER VALLEY ROUNDUP RACE UPDATE

Hello race participants. We are finishing another 5 day trichomonias treatment with Berimax. With all the new birds arriving from all over the U.S. including Hawaii, I feel it's best not to take any chances.

We just lofted in the last of the race birds with the exception of a very few recent arrivals. We have started putting on the ETS bands and will post an inventory soon of the birds as they come in from loft flying. This will also let us know if all the bands are working.

We have started vaccinating the birds against salmonella with the KM-1 vaccine. They get Probiotic in the water every day except for the days they have Ecol-Tonic. 1 day each week they have Herbots 4 Oils and BMT Powder on the feed. 1 day each week we pour V-8 juice on the feed and allow to soak in. Later we dry up the feed with Natural's Vitamin and Mineral Powder. Once each week we give the birds a fresh grit mixture of 4 different grits mixed together with a little activated charcoal added in. From time to time we give the birds other minerals and pik stones as well.

Our main focus up to this point has been to loft in the birds and health. We will soon change our focus to all aspects of training.

RIVER VALLEY RACE UPDATE

Hello race participants. I hope everyone enjoyed their holiday weekend. We continue to receive more birds each week. Several flyers are shipping this week and next. The birds are doing good at this time. More than half are lofted in and go out almost eveyday. We have set new records for rainfall in our state and it continues to rain most days. In between showers we try to get the birds outside and let them fly. We are trap training several more groups and plan to have them out for their 1st time in a couple of days. Thank you to all that have sent your fine birds to our race this year. We are well aware of the hard work that went into raising them. We will do everything we can to keep them healthy, happy, and ready to compete in the upcoming race series. We will put on the ETS bands soon and publish a list of all the birds.

Bobby Pollock

RIVER VALLEY ROUNDUP RACE UPDATE

Hello race participants. Today is the last day for another Berimax/Ecol-Tonic treatment for trichomonaisis. We treated the birds for 5 days. Half of the birds are lofted in and have been outside about 10 times. We are trap training the newest birds and they will go out for their 1st time in a few days.

Many birds will arrive between now and the 1st of June. People sending late may fear that their birds will be too far behind the earlier birds. That will not be the case. All birds will receive many short tosses and these will be posted on our site. By the time each group reaches the 50 mile station they will be well prepared. They will be tossed in small groups, not mass tosses.

If you know any fliers that would like to send some birds to a race be sure and tell them about ours. More entries means bigger payouts for all the winners. Remember perch fees are only 75.00 if you enter a team of 4 or more birds. Any birds that don't make it to the 2nd race will receive a free perch fee the following year.

So far so good!

RIVER VALLEY ROUNDUP RACE UPDATE

Hello race participants! Everything is going great so far. The weather has been very warm and humid. Lots of rain. The birds are doing well. We have over 100 in the loft with new arrivals every couple of days. 2 groups are lofted in well and group 3 is being lofted in now. We chase the birds into the settling cage several times each day and drop the bob traps so they have to come through them. Not much to report yet. The good news is there's no bad news. Please contact me if you have any comments or questions.

RIVER VALLEY ROUNDUP RACE UPDATE

Hello race participants! I hope everyone had a nice Easter Holiday. More birds are starting to arrive now. We will receive many birds in the coming weeks. If you have friends who like to enter 1 loft races be sure and tell them about ours. The more birds we get the bigger the prize pool will be. Remember, if they enter 4 birds the perch fees are only $300 and any birds that don't make it to the 2nd race will receive a free perch the next year.

We are continuing to trap train and loft in the race birds. We had the 2nd group out for their 1st time today and didn't lose a single one. After a few more times out I will consider them lofted in. We will be starting on the 3rd group soon.

Good luck!

RIVER VALLEY ROUNDUP RACE UPDATE

Hello RVR Race participants! We have a nice group of birds in the loft. Except for a few of the last ones to arrive, we have been lofting the birds in with excellent results so far. We haven't lost a single one. Charlie Mayfield's double "Black Widow" hen almost gave me a heart attack when she flew out of sight the 2nd time she had been outside. I considered her gone untill she came back just before dark and trapped in!

Our plan this year is to loft the birds in as soon as possible. Once they are routing good we will start with very short tosses and slowly work out to about 50 miles. We will do this in small groups. We will train the groups together based on when they arrive here at our loft. The birds that come here later will not be handicapped because the earlier groups will only be trained out to 50 miles. Once all the birds are trained out and coming good from 50 miles, we will mix the birds, but continue to train in small groups.

If you have any comments or questions don't hesitate to contact me. (479) 719-3995.

Bobby Pollock
