RIVER VALLEY ROUNDUP RACE UPDATE

We are keeping the birds in for a few days due to dove season. We are located about 2 miles from the bottoms and we don't want to take any chances. We will turn the birds out again mid day on Tuesday. We should be okay from that point on.

RIVER VALLEY ROUNDUP RACE UPDATE

Hello Breeders. The birds are beginning to get up in a larger group and fly. The last birds to arrive are finishing their body and tail moult. We will continue to flag lightly and encourage all the birds to get up and fly. We will begin the 1st training tosses soon. I'm really excited about how things are looking. I think there is a good chance this will be the very best race season since we started.

Good luck,

Bobby

RIVER VALLEY ROUNDUP RACE UPDATE

Hello everyone. The 10th flights are still growing in. The birds are going out everyday. The weather changes from cool and rainy to humid and hot. I have switched the birds to a lighter feed to help them get up and start flying. The goal is to start training tosses the 1st part of September.

Good luck to all,

Bobby

RIVER VALLEY ROUNDUP RACE UPDATE

Hello Breeders. All groups have been out 4 times. We are only missing 2 birds!!! The 10th flights are growing in. We are training the last group to eat and drink in the shipping crates. We will be letting all the birds out together and allow them to get their wings under them. As soon as they are doing well we will start short tosses. We do many short tosses starting at 1/2 miles. Your birds will have every chance to prove they are good pigeons when the races begin.

An inventory list is posted on our website. Hold the pointer on the "RESULTS" tab. You will have 2 options. Click on "TRAINING RESULTS." Click on "LIVE." Click on "View Complete Report." You can click on the "Select Breeder" option to find your loft name. When you click on your loft name your birds will appear. For some reason 9 APC birds, 1 Hollywood Lou bird, and 1 MV bird is listed as "Breeder Unassigned." I am trying to get hold of Terry Gilmore to find out how to resolve this. I haven't been able to reach him yet. It's not a big problem and we will have this resolved soon.

Good luck,

Bobby

RIVER VALLEY ROUNDUP RACE UPDATE

Hello Breeders. Nothing has changed. We are lofting in the last of the arrivals. We also teach each group to eat and drink in the shipping crates. Your birds are molting and healthy. We have had no sick birds this year! That's almost unheard of. We are expecting a great race series.

Good luck to all,

Bobby

RIVER VALLEY ROUNDUP RACE UPDATE

Hello Breeders! We have been busy trap training, lofting in your birds, and training your birds to eat and drink in the shipping baskets. All the birds look great. There has been no sickness so far.

Great news! We have only lost 1 bird so far while lofting in. That bird belonged to a local flyer and he quickly replaced it. Most of the birds have been out 4 times each. We are trap training another group and they will go out soon.

Good luck to all,

Bobby

RIVER VALLEY ROUNDUP RACE UPDATE

Hello everyone. We have about 50 birds in the loft with many more on the way. Most birds will arrive late April and the month of May. The cut-off this year is June 15th. We have quite a few new flyers this year. We are expecting the best race series so far. Be sure to tell your club members and pigeon friends about our great race series. The more birds we have the bigger the prizes will be.

When your birds arrive they are "dunked" to give them a drink. They are then given an Ideala pill to give them a nutritional jump-start after being in the box for 2 or 3 days. We then give a vaccination for PMV/Herpes. They are placed in a 2x2x4 ft. breeding box with rich food and water, grit and pellets. After several days we give them a worm tablet. After about a week, when we are sure they are eating and drinking well and have no health issues, we place them in one of the racing sections. We immediately begin trap training and lofting in at this time.

Good luck to all,

Bobby

RIVER VALLEY ROUNDUP RACE UPDATE

Hello everyone. At this time all birds requested should be home and all checks should have been received. If this is not the case contact me immediately. I hope everyone receives the Racing Pigeon Digest. The write-up for our last race series is in the March 1st edition. It includes the names of all the winners and some pictures. Check it out.

We are expecting a great race series for 2017! We are accepting birds now but most will arrive in late March, April and May. The absolute cut-off is June 15th. We are extending the last race from 300 miles to 325 miles. The race fees will be $25 more this year. Last year was $125 and this year will be $150. We expect this to increase the prize pool by more than $5000.

Thank you for your participation,

Bobby

RIVER VALLEY ROUNDUP RACE UPDATE

We had 1 bird return today, Kwan 617. We mailed some birds out today and contacted their owners to alert them. We will start mass shipping birds on Monday. Most checks have been mailed out. There are still a few here. We were waiting for W-9's. Other than 1, I think we have all of them now. I will mail them out on Monday also.

RIVER VALLEY ROUNDUP RACE UPDATE

We now have 83 birds home. Only 2 came back today. All the checks for prize money have been written and are beginning to be mailed out. CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THE WINNERS!!! Due to not being able to predict who will want their birds back and how many birds that will be, also some potential IRS problems, I have to write all prize winning checks for the full amounts. If you want your birds back send a check for $55 for 1 bird and $10 for each additional.

We have a full page ad for our 2017 race series coming out in the February, March and April issues of Racing Pigeon Digest. Hopefully this will help increase the size of our race. I am sending in a write-up and some pics with a list of all this last season's winners to be published in the March issue also. Be sure and check it out.

New for this year's race series: (1) We will not accept birds after June 15th. By allowing birds to arrive after the 1st of July this last year, it contributed to us finishing in January. Even though it increases the money in the prize pool we will not budge this year. The breeders from the north have trouble raising babies in their severe winters. This makes it difficult for them to send birds in time. (2) Our last race will be flown from 325 miles. If this goes well we may move out a little farther the following year. (3) The race fees will be $150 each. The extra $25 per bird should increase the prize pool by at least $5000, maybe more.

Thank you to everyone who participated this year. I hope you will join us for the 2017 race series. Tell others in your club and friends across the country about our race. This increases the competition and how much money we have for prizes. The more entries the bigger the prizes to be won.
