RIVER VALLEY ROUNDUP RACE UPDATE

The birds didn't have a great chance to perform well today. The winds went from about 15 mph right cross tail winds to 25 mph right cross tail winds very quickly. Other than the 1st birds to clock, they missed and had to turn around and fly back into 20-25 mph head winds. However I think it was a good training experience. Tomorrow's weather is calling for rain so we plan to toss again on Saturday.

RIVER VALLEY ROUNDUP RACE UPDATE

On our 2nd 35 mile training toss we had 3 birds missing when we pulled the clock. 1 bird returned that day and the other 2 the next morning. On our last 35 mile training toss we had 2 birds missing. Both have returned now. one possibly yesterday evening and the other one late morning today. Foys 8506 and GTO 580 are both here and in good shape. We had thick fog all morning so we kept the birds home today. We plan to toss from 35 miles tomorrow morning. I am working to get the McLoft bird over his injury and back in the group. He loft flew with my birds for a while today. A winner last year for Ross Hull had a wing injury early on and came back to win big.

RIVER VALLEY ROUNDUP RACE UPDATE

Congrats to the 1st drop today. At this time we have 3 birds still out. UCA 482 came home shortly after we stopped clocking. There is still enough time for the 3 birds to trap in today. If not they will probably come home in the morning. Once we get out to this distance the birds have to deal with hills and a little mountainous terrain. Cavanal Hill is just a few feet short of being a mountain and runs for a ways. I think this is why the birds are getting broken up. Normally this passes pretty quickly and the birds begin coming home in 1 group. We will keep the birds home tomorrow and toss from 35 miles again on Monday.

RIVER VALLEY ROUNDUP RACE UPDATE

Yesterday we flagged and loft flew the birds for 1 hour. Many wanted to fly longer. The birds performed great again today from 27 miles. The plan is to toss from 35 miles tomorrow. This is where we had trouble the last time. Cross your fingers.

RIVER VALLEY ROUNDUP RACE UPDATE

Yesterday we flagged and loft flew the birds and they flew for 1 hour. Today we tossed from 27 miles and almost all of the birds performed very well. McLofts 103 came in late with an injured leg. I'll have to asses his ability to continue. We are still missing 2 birds.

RIVER VALLEY ROUNDUP RACE UPDATE

We had heavy clouds today and a little mist and wind. We kept the birds home and flagged and loft flew them. The birds flew for 1 hour before being called in. They all look fantastic. Tomorrow's weather is forecast to be the same so we plan a repeat of today. Wednesday should be better and we plan to release from our 27 mile spot.

RIVER VALLEY ROUNDUP RACE UPDATE

The birds have been rested and restored. We flagged and loft flew today and all the birds exercised for 1 hour. We will loft fly Monday and Tuesday and resume training tosses as soon as the weather clears, probably Wednesday morning.

Good luck to all,
