We had a very busy week with about 190 birds arriving this week. We are watching very closely if any youngsters are showing any signs of stress. I have had several conversations with Dr. Zollars on our vaccinating program and health regimen. We were able to put two youngsters back in the main loft which bounced back very nicely after falling behind. The weather this week was terrible. A few towns to the west of us saw a foot of snow, however today was 54 degrees and sunny. Our boys got caught outside several times today without jackets. Needless to say they think anything over 45 degrees right now feels like summer and they think a T-shirt will is fine to be out in. One thing I would like to stress is to send youngsters around 35/45 days old. I received a few this week that looked as if they were taken straight from the nest. One Loft Racing is a stressful environment and your doing your birds no good if they are not eating and drinking well on their own before they are shipped. It is my job to care and prepare youngsters for the season but give them a good head start is all that I am saying.I can't believe the quality of birds that are coming in. Its definitely the best of the best in this season. Remember to ship birds early in the week so we don't have birds sitting at the post office over the weekend.Remember Perch Fees Are Due When The Birds Arrive! $200 per birdPlease do your best to call or email when shipping birds so we can ensure they all make it.Take Care,Jim
Well it has taken a few months but the new addition to the loft is complete inside and out! We are right around 450 birds that have either been pre paid for or are physically here. This is only after accepting birds for 2 weeks! I am very confident that we will fill up very quickly. There are some days we are in the office from 7:30 am to 1:00 pm doing inventory and vaccinating new arrivals. We have a few reminders when it comes to shipping birds, the first being Please make sure you are registered on the HCRace.com website before you ship your birds to us. This speeds up the process of entering the birds into the computer on our end and eliminates a few phone calls. When you do ship birds please include the "Loft Name" the birds are to be registered to either on the check or on a separate piece of paper. This alone makes a huge difference when it comes to entering birds. And as always, please make sure that the $200 perch fee per bird is included with the birds when they arrive unless you have pre paid. Our first group will be let out of the loft this week as long as the weather cooperates. We removed one youngster from the loft today and placed her into a separate loft. The owner of this bird was notified today. A short video of the first group of birds trapping in the main loft was posted today to our YouTube page and it includes a quick look at the outside of the lofts. This link will take you to the video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m-PK0oaJJkQPlease email or call if you have any questions. Take Care,Jim
Birds are coming in fast and furious now! No more sleeping in at the Ward House! The post office is calling by 6:30 am now several days a week to let us know there are birds waiting to be picked up. We received at least 12 phone calls this week from breeders wishing to enter the race. All we can tell them is that is a first come basis. Either ship your birds or prepay for perches. This is the only way to guarantee your perches. The first group of birds will be moved into the main loft this week. Appetites are very good and so far the youngsters look great! This morning we met Miguel Socorro of M & Y Connection. He brought his birds down from Michigan to enter in the race. Miguel it was a pleasure meeting you and I'm sure you will have a successful future in the pigeon sport! Please remember to ship your birds early in the week and to drop us a call or email when shipping them out. Also, a reminder that perch fees must accompany the birds when they are shipped. We finally finished the interior of the new Hoosier addition. A short video was posted on our website and this link will also take you to the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o-YBcSbxJD8 The aviary construction began today and that and a few other finishing touches should be finished this week. Going into the 2017 series we were facing a clock dilemma using the Benzing M1. This system is our clock of choice and has always worked great for us. The M1 though has a bird limit of 1000 birds. I owe my wife a big Thank you, as our options were limited and almost forced to purchase a new clocking system and learn a new clocking system. After several phone calls and emails with Benzing and Siegel Pigeon Supply, Benzing has agreed to modify our M1 clock to allow for a higher bird limit. We will be able to continue to use the Benzing system which works great for us. Hope everyone has a great week! Please check out the video for quick peek at the new loft!Jim
We have officially started accepting birds for the 2017 season. This past week we received 39 birds and everyone is looking great. Upon arrival all birds are vaccinated for PMV & Paratyphoid. I will show a more detailed intake treatment of the birds next week. Our office looks like a drug store with all the vaccines and meds that have been delivered this week. As of today the birds in quarantine are working the traps if all goes well they will be moved to the main loft next Thursday.Remember if you want to win send your BEST! Look at the competition in this years race. This will be a very exciting series. We have a few ideas that we want to implement at the loft and will show you them once we finish and make sure it works. Our first shipment of Versa-Laga was delivered this week and we will be using the starter mix again this year until June when we will switch to the Junior mix . Jovati grit will be given daily as well as the Vita King minerals. We expect the birds to start arriving fast, remember we will only take the first 1400 birds that arrive or are pre-paid. Please ship your birds early in the week. Anything shipped after Wednesday may not get here by the weekend. Please remember to send Perch fees with your birds! When we have to call about money it takes time away from the birds. There are a few new flyers signed up that haven't flown one loft races before. If you have any questions feel free to call or email me. I am very excited for this season and what we have in store! This is going to be a very exciting and competitive series!
If you do do not receive these updates in an email form please either check your "spam/junk" box or contact us to make sure we have the correct email. Updates are always emailed out to all breeders with occasionally pictures of the birds or lofts and links to videos we may have posted. Take Care,Jim
End of FebruaryWe were going to start accepting birds March 1st, however we received a few phone calls today asking if they can ship this week. IF your birds are ready we will start accepting birds this week. The lofts were vacuumed today and with weather in the 60's & 70's today and tomorrow we were able to get a lot done and the loft is well prepared for your 2017 Champions.I must say we are very happy with the response we received this year for the 2017 race series. We have grown every year and will work just as hard to make the Hoosier Classic one of the best races in the country. We promise to take NO SHORT CUTS when it comes to your birds! My family and I just got back from the iPigeon Gala in Las Vegas last night. As usual iPigeon put on a very classy event. Mark Mourton handled the auction birds this year and had them in great condition. An auctioneer was needed this year and Jim Mundy from the Mayberry Classic stepped up and that boy sure can rattle off the numbers. As always it was great to see friends and meet new ones. This was the first year that we have taken our kids to the Gala. They were able to meet Mike Tyson and get a boxing glove signed to add to their collection. It eventually had to be removed from their possession as each of the boys tried the glove on and tried to beat the hell out of each other. A reminder to please call or send an email when you ship birds out so we can expect a phone call from the post office. Also, perch fees MUST accompany birds when they arrive if perches have not been pre paid. We have over 1800 birds registered and can only accept 1400, it is imperative that perches be paid when birds arrive. Perch fees are $200 per bird ($100 is applied towards 1st place prize). As always if you have any questions please feel free to call or email. We are looking forward to what we expect to be a very exciting and competitive series! Take Care,Jim

Well, March 1st is fast approaching and we are well underway with the construction of the new addition to the loft. We have moved to the inside of the loft with the construction. A few nice days in January helped with getting the outside finished. We posted a video on our YouTube page a few days ago showing the progress of the inside of the loft. If you click on the "photos" page on our website and then click "YouTube" link it will take you to all of our videos including the newest one. We have begun posting pre paid perches on the website for anyone that has either pre paid or left money from the 2016 series. If you see birds on the page they are only pre paid perches. We will being accepting birds March 1st, which is quickly approaching. Please remember that all perch fees are $200 per bird. Of that $200 we will be putting $100 towards the 1st Place Capital Prize. We will continue to stress that ALL birds need to have the perch fee with them when they arrive. There are 2 lofts that had prize money coming from the 2016 series and never sent a W-9. If you would like to apply the balance to this years race please contact us so we can mark perches pre paid for you.We will be attending the iPigeon Gala in Las Vegas in less then 2 weeks. Our children will be attending with us as well. I'm sure many of you know they are actively involved in the race when it comes to shipping and basketing birds. We look forward to meeting many new faces at the convention this year. Congratulations to Ado Family Loft on his BIG WIN in the Victoria Falls Race last weekend. We wish everyone the Best of Luck this Saturday in the South African Million Dollar Pigeon Race. We have a few entries left ourselves. Good Luck and Have a Great Week.Jim
