300 MILE RACE TOMORROW

Good Afternoon Breeders,

Tomorrow looks like a good day to have the 300 mile race.  I will release around 8am south of Empire Nevada...60 degrees and 3mph North wind in forecast.  Home around 2pm looks like 80 degrees with a good 10mph North wind gusting to 15mph.  Winds along the course don't look much over 5mph out of the North until they get to about 50 miles from home and then they will have to dig into those north winds.  The heat will play a factor tomorrow with a high of 80 but the birds are ready and it doesn't heat up until they get closer to home.

Good Luck Tomorrow!  Payout has been posted under the race information tab on the website

GOOD MORNING!
Good Morning Breeders!

Beautiful morning here in Central Oregon, late birds are starting to make their way in this morning.  I am very happy with how the birds performed yesterday.  Weather was beautiful, but there was definitely more headwinds and gusts along the course than was expected.  The birds were on a mission to get home yesterday from the start and those birds worked hard.

Congratulations to the first drop of 29 birds, those birds made all the right decisions and dug in to be the first to the loft.  Congratulations to Pol Loft for getting the first bird in the clock followed by Send An Ace in second place, Greek in third, 98MJ in fourth, and Osty coming in 5th.

This race should have set the birds up nicely for the 300 mile next week.  Plan will be to loft fly Sunday and Monday, road train Tuesday and Wednesday and race Friday as long as weather permits.

Enjoy your weekend!

250 MILE RACE FRIDAY
Good Evening Breeders!

Friday looks like it will be a nice day to have the 250 mile race.  Weather is sunny to mostly sunny for the entire course with variable winds out of the NNW and NNE 3-6 mph.  Temperature at release will be about 45 degrees and just over 70 by the time the birds are due to arrive home.  Birds should be able to be released at 7:30.

Birds did great on their trainer today and yesterday.  They did have some help from the wind on both days.  Today they had to deal with a little rain and high overcast...they did great.  Birds have bounced back nicely from the 200 mile race.

I will post payout next week after I make sure there are no checks that have been returned from the bank.

Good Luck to everyone!

RACE UPDATE

Good Afternoon Breeders!

Birds are still trickling in from all directions.  Most of the birds are coming in super high and very nervous, which makes me believe there were some falcon issues along the way.  I'm hoping they will continue to come in steady.

Congratulations to the first drop of 30 birds!  Shout out to Scrub Family Loft for getting the first bird in the clock today.  Congratulation to Pol loft taking second, Ace Imperial taking third and Highland Loft coming in with the 4th position!

There was a little fog at release this morning that pushed our release time to 8am, but the sun burned it off nicely before release.  Weather was clear and blue all the way home with very little wind to speak of.  It is currently 78 degree with a 10mph wind out of the NW that these late birds are having to fight a bit.

I am heading out into the mountains to run a 100 mile race tomorrow into Sunday and will not have phone reception.  I will be home Sunday early afternoon and will return any calls or messages once home.  Patrick will be holding down the home front and taking good care of the pigeons until I get home.

Have a great weekend.

200 MILE RACE FRIDAY
Good Evening Breeders,

Birds enjoyed some rain off and on during this morning's loft fly.

Forecast for Friday looks great for the first race.  Current forecast shows sunny and very little wind along the course.  As the birds get closer to home they look like they might encounter a couple mile an hour tailwind.  Temperature at release will be 45 degrees and 70 by the time they reach home.  Course is currently smoke free...fingers crossed the wind tomorrow doesn't blow smoke back onto the course.

Refunds will be issued after the first race to those that have lost birds since activation.

There are a few more birds available to be activated.  They are under "Crooked River Challenge" and named "For Sale".  Please let me know ASAP if anyone would like to activate.

Have great evening and good luck!

GOOD MORNING!
Good Morning Breeders!

Birds enjoying a crisp autumn morning loft fly.  It has been beautiful with limited smoke at the loft, but south of us the smoke continues to be an issue.  I know everyone is eager to get the first race done, as am I, but we have to wait until the smoke clears off the course.  There is weather coming over the weekend and beginning of this next week, so hopefully we can get some rain to clear some of that up.  It doesn't have to be perfect but it will have to definitely improve.  I will continue to road train birds as much as needed to keep them in shape.

Currently, I have received 78.5% of the entry fees. Most of the rest I have confirmed directly with breeders that they are in the post system.  We are rural and do not get mail on Saturdays, so that contributes to the delay.  If you have not heard from me or contacted me and are unpaid, best to reach out.

There is one bird currently for sale and is listed under "Crooked River Challenge" as the breeder.  I have it named "for sale", please let me know if anyone would like to activate it.  The others have been spoken for at the moment.

Birds continue to have great appetites and receive a rotation of Primalac and Ropa B in their water.  They continue to train well and there are some birds that don't trap right away on these past short tosses.

I hope this finds everyone well and good luck in all the races!

Take Care

GOOD AFTERNOON

Good Afternoon Breeders,

Birds are still making their way through the wind as I am writing.  Parts of the race course today were dead calm and others were quite blustery.  I am happy that the majority of birds did well and made the correct decisions on the way home.  Today was a good learning experience and working activation for the birds.

Congratulations to Van Den Bossche Brothers for getting the first bird in the clock, following by Oscar and Linda Devries, and Primos Aranda Loft.

Big Congratulations to Primos Aranda Loft for winning today's sprint and taking home the sprint average speed win!

Congratulations to Cicio's Loft for taking second sprint, followed by Ganus in 3rd.

Congratulations to Kolvenbag for taking second average sprint and Adam Hajduga for rounding out the 3rd position.

Thank you to everyone that took part in the sprint series...it will be fun to see who wins overall average.

Activation fees are now due for the main series.  Zelle is prefered for electronic payments...please use my phone # 503-510-2661.  Check and money orders also work great.  Apple pay, Venmo, and Paypal also accepted if needed.

Have a great weekend!

150 POSTPONED DUE TO SMOKE

Good Morning Breeders,

Unfortunately, the wind yesterday put more smoke on my course, rather than blow it off.  I am glad I decided to keep the birds home, otherwise I would be driving them home this morning.

Wind looks like it will be more out of the northeast late today into tomorrow, so there is potential for the smoke to be moved out to the west.  I will fly once the course is clear. For those that like to follow the air quality...I use the Breezeometer app and I fly south to north.  Windy.com is my go to for weather, wind, and live cameras along the course.

Good luck to those in Blue Bucket today...they should have a beautiful smoke free flight today!

Take Care

150 MILE ACTIVATION UPDATE

Good Morning Breeders,

I have been keeping a close eye on the smoke over the race course and at the moment there is potential to have the activation tomorrow. The winds should continue to move the smoke off course and as long as the trend continues, it should be a good day.

Tomorrow is calling for light headwinds the entirety of the course with nothing much over 10mph.  Clear skies and 55 at release and 75 by the time birds reach home.

Good luck and hopefully the smoke will cooperate.

Lucas

150 MILE ACTIVATION UPDATE
Good Afternoon Breeders,

Birds continue to train well.  This morning they were on a mission to get home quick.  I was planning on flying the 150 on Friday, but it is too damn hot.  The high on Friday will be 102 degrees, which isn't conducive to a good pigeon race.  Big temperature swings from daytime highs and nighttime lows.

Plan as of right now...loft fly Thursday, Friday, Saturday....train Sunday, Monday and then 150 activation on Wednesday.  Weather dependent of course.

Take Care
