RIVER VALLEY ROUNDUP RACE UPDATE

Congratulations to everyone who did well today! The 1st birds made great time, in part due to a light tail wind. The later birds missed the loft and are having to return from the NNE into those same winds. We will leave the clock on until dark. There is at least 1 more bird that has clocked in. I had to remove the laptop for a while but we will connect it shortly. When we do the Unikon Clocking System will be uploaded into the Wincompanion Program so you can see the last birds. The weather is about to turn really bad here for a while. I'm planning to fly your 150 mile race in about 8 or 9 days. We would do it sooner but the weather will not allow.

There are still 2 flyers that cannot be contacted to pay their race fees. I have emailed, sent texts, left voice messages. In addition the request to send race fees has been posted on the website since November 14th. If this is not resolved very shortly their birds will be available to whoever pays the race fee on a 1st come 1st serve basis. These birds will belong to the person paying the fees. Believe it or not ALL of their birds performed very well today. I will publish the available birds in the next few days.

RIVER VALLEY ROUNDUP RACE UPDATE

Thursday we tossed the birds from 35 miles to keep them sharp. The results are posted. Everyone has been sending their race fees in so we will get the races started. The weather report for Monday is very good so we plan to start your race series then. We will be releasing the birds from Antlers Oklahoma. This race will be 100 miles. As always, weather permitting. IMPORTANT: Wincompanion is no longer able to provide a service to send out updates from a race to its participants. Because they are a 3rd party these updates appear to be spam to the spam police. At this time there is nothing Terry Gilmore can do about it. The solution is to send the updates out from a personal email account such as yahoo. We are working on that today. This inability to send out updates happended without warning in the last couple of days. We hopefully will be able to send you updates by days end.

Good luck to everyone,

Bobby Pollock

RIVER VALLEY ROUNDUP RACE UPDATE

We expected to use live clocking today but it just didn't happen. The birds were tossed into mostly sunny skies with tailwinds and they performed brilliantly. There were a couple flyers here when the birds returned and they were really impressed with the health of everyones birds. IF 15 E 28728 returned late from the last training toss so he didn't go today. AU 15 SHAR 069 came with the other birds but trapped last. He was a little spooked. All race fees are now due. We take credit cards over the phone or you can mail a check. DO THIS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE SO WE CAN BEGIN THE RACE SERIES.

RIVER VALLEY ROUNDUP RACE UPDATE

Today we tossed the birds into blue skies and sunshine from 55 miles. We had strong cross winds from the WNW@ 10 mph. The birds did very well. We will post the results tomorrow. All the birds except for a few were home within 15 minutes. The rest were home shortly after that.

RIVER VALLEY ROUNDUP RACE UPDATE

Today the birds were released into blue skies with brilliant sunshine from 55 miles. The birds ALL performed really well. The results are now posted on the website. This morning we hand checked all ETS bands and they are all working. We clocked all 153 birds on this toss. Wow, Mr. Kreager's bird was over 1 minute ahead. The plan is 2 more tosses from this spot and then the 75 mile activation toss. Race fees will be due immediately after the 75 mile toss. Please send as soon as possible after the 75 mile toss so we can begin the race series. We take all credit cards over the phone if this helps. On any cloudy days we plan to toss the birds short to give them experience coming home without the sun.

RIVER VALLEY ROUNDUP RACE UPDATE

Todays 35 mile toss will be posted on our website shortly. The birds were tossed into beautiful blue skies with a strong cross headwind again, same as yesterday. The birds did really well today. There were some birds that once again were pushed to the west enough to miss the loft and had to return from the north. The birds came much quicker than I expected today. Compare todays results against the results from yesterday. The release point and conditions were exactly the same except there were a few more clouds yesterday. We believe there are 2 or 3 more birds than the results show again. I am suspicious that their ETS bands are not working. We plan to hand enter every bird in the morning before the 55 mile toss. Tomorrows list will be definative.

RIVER VALLEY ROUNDUP RACE UPDATE

Today we tossed from 35 miles into stiff cross headwinds. The birds performed very well. We clocked 149 birds in 48 seconds. We hand counted the birds after the toss and counted several more birds than clocked. When so many birds clock together it's possible for the antenna's to miss a few. The later birds were pushed a little west because of the cross headwinds and missed the loft. They came back from the north to northwest. The line of flight is from the southwest. I think this is a good trainning experience for these birds and a credit to them for turning around and making it back instead of continuing on until they run out of energy. When those birds return totally exhausted it makes it hard for them to continue to be competitive.

RIVER VALLEY ROUNDUP RACE UPDATE

Hello race participants. We tried to toss from 35 miles today but as the driver neared the mountains the clouds were very low and misty. I had him go back to our 20 mile spot and release. We plan to toss from 35 miles tomorrow. If this goes well we will jump to our 53 mile spot next. Todays toss is posted on the web site. Also we adjusted for daylight savings time on the last 35 mile toss so the speeds are now accurate. I am happy to report about 160 birds clocked in 39 seconds today. Again, my personal birds do not show up as they are not entered in the race inventory. My birds will not be tossed on any of the races. Although my birds have at times been with the 1st birds to arrive I have yet to be 1st through the trap. :(

RIVER VALLEY ROUNDUP RACE UPDATE

Hello race participants. The birds actually clocked 1 hour earlier than posted. We will have to adjust for daylight savings time. We didn't catch it in time on this toss. So don't panic the birds did good today!
